Story : Bob Denatale
Pencils : Larry Alexander

Story:
Let's travel back in time to the days shortly following the Armor Wars… when Stark was wearing that cool red and gold armor that had replaced its silver centurion predecessor. Miss those days? Then you'll get a kick out of this.

The story begins with Stark arguing with Edgar Eliot, a representative of the defence department. Stark Enterprises has developed a new rocket engine and the government wants it exclusively. Stark declines of course, he's been out of the weapons trade for years and he has no intention of going back. That answer does not satisfy Mr. Eliot, to say the least. He returns to SE under the cover of night and gains access to the premises thanks to a security guard that is actually on his payroll. If the obsessive Eliot can't have the rocket, no one will! Using a powerful acid as his means of sabotage, he unwittingly causes the engine to blow up, releasing the new and powerful coolant. In a matter of minutes, the entire area is turned into a gigantic ice storm. You guessed it, this is a job for Iron Man!
What's cool:
The coolest thing about this comic has got to be the cover. I have no idea who did it, but he or she has got major talent. As you can see by the scanned image above, this is one sweet IM pin-up. The cover just by itself is worth the small price you'll probably pay for this comic! As for the art inside… well… it's okay. If you liked that period of Stark's life and if you miss SE and Mrs. Arborgast, you'll get a kick out of this story. Some of the other stories in this issue are interesting also. There's a cool Rogue story involving Mystique, a fun Tigra story (I love Tigra) in which she must rescue her father and finally a pretty cool Falcon story that involves Stane International and a trio of armored gentlemen called the Iron Trinity.
What's baaad:
Well, as I said, the art of the IM story is okay. No more and no less. As for the story, well, the whole thing is a bit silly really… a rocket engine coolant causing a full-blown ice storm? I dunno…

Stark says: "I'm sorry Mr. Eliot. I gave up making weapons a long time ago. It's not a part of my past I'm particularly proud of. I'm not about to turn around and help the military in its mad scheme to militarize space. On the contrary, I'm going to do my best to keep it peaceful and put it in the hands of the private sector."
